AF selects T-bolt for nursing gig

The Air Force has selected 48 Airmen to enroll in a program that will train them to be commissioned nurses and one of them is from Luke Air Force Base.

Tech. Sgt. Tiffany Ebueng, 56th Fighter Wing Legal office, has been selected for the 2013 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program and will become a full-time nursing student for up to 24 consecutive months at a college or university with an Air Force ROTC detachment, where she will complete her bachelor’s degree.

While in school, the selectees will receive all pay and allowances. Senior airmen who were selected will be promoted to staff sergeant before starting the program.

If they graduate and pass the Nursing National Council Licensure Examination, participants will be commissioned as second lieutenants.

“Qualified, dedicated nurses are critical to the military and civilian communities. Candidates go through rigorous screening to identify those who are ready for the responsibility and highly likely to succeed in the school and career field,” said Sandra Bruce, nurse education program manager at the Air Force Personnel Center.

The next selection board for the program will convene May 2014.

Look for an in-depth story on Ebueng in the Thunderbolt soon.
