308th AMU earns award 3 months straight

The 308th Aircraft Maintenance Unit’s Emerald Knights recently earned the AMU of the Month award, proving for a third time in a row their dedication to excellence. The 308th AMU is part of the 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, which serves Luke Air Force Base through F-16 repairs and provisions.

“The 308th AMU leadership team will tell you they have been very fortunate,” said Lt. Col. Dominick Martin, 756th AMXS commander. “It’s usually a very close competition.”

Being awarded AMU of the Month is a great source of pride for the men and women serving, as it denotes a proficiency in aircraft maintenance and accomplishing their objectives in a disciplined and effective manner.

“Talented Airmen already proudly execute our important mission,” Martin said. “It’s nice to be recognized for their hard work and efforts.”

Chief Master Sgt. Bradley Roberts, 308th AMU, expressed satisfaction with the efforts of his fellow crewmen.

“This AMU and leadership team has come really far,” Roberts said, “even from beyond a year ago, and I am so proud to have been a part of it.”

The Emerald Knights, just as with the other AMUs under the squadron, enjoy their distinctiveness.

“Each AMU has its own unique identity and rallying cry,” Martin said. “Beyond satisfaction in providing the best trained F-16 pilots in the world, our folks revel in the little things that set their particular AMU apart as the best of the best.”

As important as some friendly competition is, the 756th AMXS is far from divided. Any objective set before them is set as the priority. In fact, Martin believes succeeding at both is all the sweeter.

“We always set out to execute the mission, so I would say that the competition is more organic or natural.” Martin said. “Obviously it is very satisfying if you can accomplish the monthly flying contract and simultaneously do it with excellence.”

Though the 308th AMU has won three times in a row, another unit may take the title next month.

“Another AMU can have a successful month at any time as well, and the competition is usually pretty close,” Roberts said. “The 308th will maintain the standards that got us here, and we will continue to improve.”
