Street Beat – July 26, 2013

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents July 12 through 18:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for 12 moving and two nonmoving violations.

Emergency responses

July 17: Security forces and firefighters responded to a report of fire in the base exchange. A small fire on the roof was quickly put out. There were no injuries.

Nonemergency responses

July 16: While conducting a routine traffic stop, security forces apprehended an active-duty member driving on a suspended license. The member was released to the unit first sergeant.

July 17: Security forces responded to a report of vandalism to government property on the outside perimeter wall of Ocotillo housing. A work order was placed to remove graffiti.

July 17: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. Glendale police arrived and took control.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to seven alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Beat the heat. Hydrate with plenty of water and do not leave animals unattended in vehicles. They can suffer the same heat stress as people.

Zell Cameron, 56th Force Support Squadron Bryant Fitness Center supervisory maintenance technician, performs safety checks throughout the fitness center at Luke Air Force Base. The fitness center was named in honor of Lt. Col. Frank D. Bryant Jr., who was killed in action April 27, 2011, while serving in Afghanistan.
