“When I was a young man, I vowed never to marry until I found the ideal woman.”

~Robert Schuman

Robert Schuman, former Prime Minister of France, once said, “When I was a young man, I vowed never to marry until I found the ideal woman. Well, I found her, but alas, she was waiting for the ideal man.” We all have visions of the perfect person. However, none of us are perfect. When we expect those we love to be perfect, the relationship suffers. Instead of seeking perfection from someone else, strive to be the “perfect person.” Perfect not in an egocentric way, but seeking to become what you want from others. When this is your focus, the imperfections of others become less important. Why? Relationships need understanding and when the “rose colored glasses of perfection” are removed, we realize that all of us are imperfect.

However, as with most things, common sense and simplicity should play a factor in any leadership situation. Throughout my Air Force experience, I have witnessed the same basic and successful qualities in...

Chaplain’s thoughts …

Many people have heard of Notre Dame University mainly because of their football fame. One of the most famous people associated with Notre Dame was Rev. Theodore Hesburgh who was president there for 35 years. In his prayers he often asked God, “To those who have hunger, give bread; to us who have bread, give...

Fly Over: ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Straight Outta Compton’

‘Fantastic Four’ Why one star you might ask? To be honest I should give it half a star for wasting my time, but that’d be a little harsh since the movie wasn’t down-right awful. I was going to write a review about how a...
