AF ball

The Air Force Ball is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Main Ballroom of the Wigwam Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park. Luke Air Force Base members can purchase tickets from their group representative today through Aug. 30. For more information, call 623-856-7009.

607th ACS changes command

Lt. Col. Sean Slaughter will relinquish command of the 607th Air Control Squadron to Lt. Col. Charles Jones at 8 a.m.

Monday at Club Five Six.

Assumption of command

Col. Constance Jackson will assume command of the 56th Medical Operations Squadron at 8:56 a.m. Aug. 27 at Club Five Six. A reception will follow. RSVP no later than Aug. 23 to Maj. Jeremy Kovacks at 623-856-9729.

New exchange hours

New store hours are 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 623-935-2671, ext. 204.

Security incident

The compromise of classified information can present a threat to the national security. Any person who becomes aware of the possible compromise of classified information should immediately report it to his supervisor, commander or security manager. If that person is involved, report the security incident to the next highest level. In the event classified material is left unattended, report the violation to the security manager. If the security manager cannot be reached, call the 56th Fighter Wing Information Protection Office at 623-856-5981. Personnel should secure classified material in a GSA-certified container until authorized persons arrive.

New pharmacy policy

As of Aug. 1, refills have a 48-hour turnaround time instead of a 24-hour turnaround time from the day the prescription is filled. The cutoff time to call in meds is 6:30 a.m. For example, if it’s after 6:30 a.m. Friday, the prescription will not be filled until Monday and 48 hours from then would be Wednesday. Days of operations have also changes. The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday instead of Sunday through Thursday. For more information, call 623-856-7958.

Cinderella’s and Prince Charming’s closets

Cinderella’s Closet is looking for 100 new or gently used formal gowns, cocktail dresses and prom dresses in all sizes, colors and styles, and handbags and accessories to complete an outfit.

Prince Charming’s Closet is looking for 25 new or gently used business suits or coats and slacks to include dress shirts and ties, gently used shoes and accessories to complete an outfit. Drop off items at the Airman’s Attic 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Breakfast burrito sale

The 2013 Hispanic Heritage Month Committee is having a breakfast burrito sale 7 to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30 at the Luke chapel annex to help fund events throughout the month. The cost is $3 each for: egg, bacon and cheese; egg, chorizo and cheese; or egg and cheese burrito. To preorder or for more information, call 623-856-6035.

Air Force Ball golf tournament

The 2013 Air Force Ball golf tournament is a four-person team scramble at 7 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park. Registration is 6 a.m. and the sign-up deadline is Sept. 3. The cost is $40 per military and retirees and $50 per civilian and distinguished visitors. Lunch is included. For more information, call Master Sgt. Howard Suggs at 623-856-8118.

Calling all vets

Free pool passes

Free pool passes are available at outdoor recreation. The card is good for 48-hour periods at Rose Lane Pool in Glendale; Holly Hock Pool in Surprise; Sunrise, Centennial and Peoria pools in Peoria; Litchfield Park Pool; Buckeye Aquatic Center; and Goodyear Pool.

Munitions area closure

The 56th Equipment Maintenance Squadron Munitions Flight will be conducting a 100-percent inventory Sept. 6 through 14. During this time, only emergency requests submitted and approved by the group commander will be processed. All other transactions must be processed no later than close of business Sept. 5.

Feds Feed Families

Luke Air Force Base, in conjunction with the commissary, is participating in the “Feds Feed Families” campaign by donating to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Food can be dropped off at the commissary or other collection points around base. Monetary donations can be made by purchasing $10 food bags from the cashier or customer service at the commissary and the commissary will fill them with canned soup, fruit and vegetables, tuna, rice, pasta, beans and peanut butter.

Airman’s Attic volunteers

The Airman’s Attic, supporting active-duty military members E-5 and below, is looking for volunteers. Summer hours are 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and the first and third Saturdays of the month. Drop-off only is 9 to noon Thursday. For more information, call 623-856-6415.
