Commander’s comments: “Airman Backhaus’ positive attitude and high energy has a positive impact on the clinical laboratory flight and MDSS,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Coleman, 56th MDSS commander. “She demonstrates leadership above her rank by filling in for the NCO-in-charge of specimen procurement to oversee the collection of laboratory specimens for our 92,000 patient population. She took the lead to ensure network providers receive patient’s lab results and providers of 223 patients were notified that follow-up medical care was required. She is the Morale Committee secretary and enjoys participating in community activities such as the Men’s Health Expo.”
