Street Beat – September 27, 2013

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following situations from Sept. 13 through 19:

Tickets

Security Forces issued citations for 11 moving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Sept. 14: Security Forces responded to a major vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located at the intersection of Harris Lane and Shooting Star. Luke fire, emergency and medical services responded to the scene. One individual sustained minor injuries.

Sept. 16: Security Forces responded to a minor vehicle accident involving a government vehicle and a fixed object at North 146th Drive adjacent to Bldg. 1029. There were no injuries.

Sept. 16: Security Forces responded to a minor vehicle accident involving two government vehicles adjacent to Bldg. 945. There were no injuries.

Emergency responses

Sept. 14: Security Forces responded to an individual lying on the sidewalk near Salado Road and Lakota Court in a pool of vomit. Medical arrived and treated the patient. The patient declined transportation to a medical treatment facility.

Non-emergency responses

Sept. 13: Security Forces responded to a report of damage to government property at Bldg. 931.

Sept. 14: Security Forces responded to a report of an unlawful entry and trespassing on the perimeter wall, adjacent to the 56th Force Support Squadron lemon lot. The individual stated he did not see the trespassing sign and was curious what was on the other side of the fence. Glendale police arrived and took control of the situation.

Sept. 14: Security Forces received a call from AAFES about a dog that was left unattended in a car. While on scene security forces found another vehicle with four unattended dogs and all of the windows closed. Both pet owners were paged in the base exchange and security forces made contact. Both individuals were briefed about the installation rules for leaving unattended pets.

Sept. 19: Security Forces received a report of civil arrest made in Glendale on an active-duty military. The member was arrested for violating a court order, domestic disturbance and communicating a threat.

Sept. 19: Security Forces responded to a report of theft of personal property at Bldg. 942.

Sept. 19: Security Forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. Glendale police arrived and took control. While doing a search, they discovered a small amount of marijuana in a bag stuffed inside the subject’s pants. The police conducted a check of the individual’s record that resulted in two felony warrants and two misdemeanor warrants.

Sept. 19: Security Forces responded to a report of damage to government property located in the parking lot of Bldg. 1383.

Alarm activations

Security Forces responded to 10 alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

General guidelines for riding a motorcycle safely

• Remember that motorists often have trouble seeing motorcycles and reacting in time.

• Make sure the headlight works and is always on.

• Use reflective strips or decals on clothing and on motorcycle.

• Be aware of blind spots.

• Flash brake lights when slowing down and before stopping.

• Don’t be afraid to use the horn to get motorists attention.
