Street Beat – October 4, 2013

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Sept. 20 through 26:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for eight moving and four nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a request for mutual aid from Glendale police due to several reports of possible road rage. Security forces arrived on scene at Litchfield Road south of Glendale Avenue where there were three vehicles with no signs of assault in progress. Glendale police arrived and took control.

Sept. 25: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located in the parking lot of Bldg. 1150. There were no injuries.

Emergency responses

Sept. 23: Security forces responded to a report of a gate runner at South Gate. Patrols arrived on scene and made contact with the individual. The individual was unaware the entry point was to a military installation and was not familiar with procedures. Security forces made notifications and escorted the individual off the installation.

Sept. 25: Security forces responded to a 911 call from the intersection of Litchfield Road and Lightning Road. Medical services also responded and security forces performed traffic control duties until Glendale police arrived on scene and took control.

Non-emergency responses

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a reported natural gas leak adjacent to the intersection of Kachina and Thunderbird.

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a reported shoplifting at the base exchange. Contact was made and Glendale police arrived and took control.

Sept. 21: Security forces responded to a noise complaint in Hohokam Court and Saguaro Housing.

Sept. 22: Security forces responded to a report of communicating a threat, physical assault, drunk and disorderly, failure to obey and damage to government property in the parking lot of Bldg. 637. Medical arrived on scene and transported one individual to West Valley Hospital for possible alcohol poisoning.

Sept. 24: Security forces responded to an alarm activation located at Shooting Star Street. Contact was made and the individual who stated the wrong code was inputted.

Sept. 25: Security forces responded to a wants and warrants hit for failure to appear at South Gate. Department of Public Safety responded and took control.

Sept. 26: Security forces responded to a wants and warrants hit at the South Gate Visitor Center for extreme DUI and failure to appear. Glendale police responded and took control.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to seven alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Do not lock pets or children in vehicles even if the vehicle is left running. The engine can shut off and the interior becomes oven like causing harm or death. With an outside temperature of 90 degrees, the interior of a vehicle can reach 109 in just 10 minutes.
