Chaplain thoughts

tim-keller
“How you respond to the troubles in your life will go a long way toward whether or not you ever develop courage, ever develop patience, ever develop compassion, ever develop sobriety and humility, or ever develop any of those things. Don’t waste your sorrows.”

– Dr. Timothy Keller

Life is a gift! It’s also a mixed bag. It can be colorful, exciting and fulfilling. However, it can also be gray, bleak and painful. It can turn on a dime. You can be soaring one minute and crashing the next. How do you deal with pain and suffering? Have you wrestled with the reality that suffering is somewhere in your future? We ready ourselves for life’s ups and downs by strengthening ourselves psychologically, physically, socially and spiritually. Improvement in any of these areas equips us to bounce forward after being knocked down. Frailty in any of these areas can unnecessarily expose us to personal catastrophe. Resolve to stop doing things that poison you. I implore you to improve your physical fitness, examine your thought-life, build healthy relationships and seriously ponder the purpose of life. Suffering is painful but it doesn’t have to end there. It can be redeemed. Despite the losses suffering brings, you can reframe into opportunity. Let suffering inform your journey.

Blessings from above …
