Retiree Appreciation Day

The 56th Fighter Wing Retiree Appreciation Day is 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Club Five Six. Health education booths, flu shots, Veterans Affairs and state information, refreshments, prizes and grab bags are included. For more information, call Capt. Melissa Parra at 623-856-9045.

Health expo, golf tourney, car show

The 56th Medical Group is featuring a health expo, golf tournament and car show today. The 56th MDG Family Health Expo and Tune Up for Health car show are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Club Five Six. For more information, call Capt. Sara Cossette at 623-856-9394. The MDG 2nd Annual Golf Tournament is 11:30 a.m. at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. Sports day and picnic

A sports day and base picnic is 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and begins at the Luke Air Force Base Bryant Fitness Center. Events include sports competitions, and chiefs and eagles softball. Sign up with the unit sports representative or first sergeant.

Base-wide exercise

The 56th Fighter Wing will conduct an active-shooter exercise Dec. 18 and will include military and local, county and state law enforcement, and fire departments. Those traveling on base should expect traffic disruptions, gate closures or delays, and interruptions of customer service operations.

Expect to see simulated explosions, smoke, role players depicting individuals with injuries, and emergency responders to include fire, police, ambulances and medical evacuation helicopters.

Health fair

The annual health fair is 8:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 14 in Bldg. 1150, third floor atrium. Representatives from American Postal Workers Union, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Government Employee Health Association, Healthnet, Mail Handlers, Humana, United Concordia Dental, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and the union will be available to answer questions. Recycles day

The 2013 America Recycles Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nov. 15 at the Team Luke recycling booth at Bldg. 1540. Household E-waste recycling is at the Balfour Beatty Communities maintenance facility at 1368 Kachina. To volunteer or for more information, call Oscar Mabry at 623-856-4748.

Electrical outage

There will be an electrical outage in support of F-35 construction 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 through 11 affecting buildings west of Litchfield Road. For more information, call 56th Civil Engineer Squadron customer service at 623-856-4710.

Finance office closed

The finance customer service office is closed Tuesday and Nov. 8 for departmental functions. For more information, call 623-856-6035.

CONS golf tourney

The 56th Contracting Squadron Booster Club is hosting a golf tournament at Falcon Dunes Golf Course Nov. 14. Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m. and tee time is 8:30 a.m. The cost is $50 per person and includes lunch. For more information, email 2nd Lt. Give parents a break

The 56th Force Support Squadron Child Development Center and the Youth Center are offering free childcare in a safe, age-appropriate learning environment 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 16 and Dec. 21. Reservation deadlines are Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 respectively. The service is for active-duty Air Force families who are experiencing stress due to a temporary duty assignment, deployment or unique hardships associated with military life to take a break. Lunch and a snack are included. For children from infant to age 5, call (623) 856-6338. For children ages 6 to 12, call (623) 856-7471.

The Luke Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center is featuring a two-day transition assistance program self-employment training workshop from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the A&FRC.
