Street Beat – November 1, 2013

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Oct. 19 through 25:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for 16 moving and two non-moving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Oct. 20: Security forces assisted a civilian after a major vehicle accident which took place on 135th Avenue and damaged the west perimeter wall of Ocotillo Housing. The individual was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Oct. 22: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving a government-owned vehicle and a fixed object located at Bldg. 400. An individual was towing a generator and struck a fence.

Oct. 24: Security forces responded to a minor vehicle accident involving a GOV and a fixed object located on taxiway Echo. There were no injuries.

Nonemergency responses

Oct. 20: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in Bldg. 640 and made contact with an individual who had a 2-foot by 6-inch dent on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Oct. 21: A civil arrest was made in Avondale. A military member was arrested for domestic violence, resisting arrest and assault on an officer.

Oct. 21: Security forces responded to a “Be on the Lookout” report from August 2013 for shoplifting. The individual was attempting to enter the installation at Lightning Gate. A patrol issued a “suspension of base exchange, commissary and shoppette privileges” letter. The individual’s identification card was seized upon refusal to sign the letter.

Oct. 21: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. Glendale police responded and took control.

Oct. 22: Security forces responded to a report of theft of private property at Bryant Fitness Center. An individual departed the fitness center without retrieving jewelry that had been removed and set aside during a workout. The jewelry was missing when the individual returned to get it back. The incident is under investigation.

Oct. 24: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property at Bldg. 450. A personal vehicle was struck when two individuals were moving a safe from Bldg. 431 to Bldg. 3182.

Oct. 25: Security forces responded to a report of theft of funds at Fighter Country Inn.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to 10 alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

When riding a bicycle on the road, always yield to cars and pedestrians. Look left, right and left again before crossing streets. Obey traffic signs and signals, stay off highways, and ride with traffic close to the curb and in single file.
