Street Beat – November 8, 2013

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Oct. 26 through Nov. 2:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for six moving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Oct. 27: Security forces received a call from the Department of Public Safety regarding an active-duty member in critical condition due to a vehicle rollover from a suspected tire blowout at the location of I-10 and Avondale Boulevard. The individual was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital.

Oct. 28: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving a government-owned vehicle and a fixed object located at Bldg. 485. There were no injuries.

Oct. 28: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located in the Bldg. 958 parking lot. There were no injuries.

Nov. 1: Security forces, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to a report of a major vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located in the intersection of Lightning Street and 137th Avenue. There were no injuries.

Nov. 1 Security forces responded to a report of a major vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located in the intersection of Harris Lane and Shooting Star Road. There were no injuries.

Emergency responses

Oct. 29: Security forces reported a medical emergency at Bldg. 179. The patient was complaining of chest pains and was transported to West Valley Hospital.

Nonemergency responses

Oct. 28: Security forces responded to a noise complaint in Bldg. 643. The individuals were briefed on turning down the music and notifications were made to their first sergeants.

Oct. 28: Security forces responded to a report of damage to government property in the parking lot of Bldg. 179. There was a dent and transfer marks on the Smart Cart when it was returned.

Oct. 29: Security forces rendered assistance at Bldg. 985 due to a fire alarm suppression system activating. Security forces and firefighters contained the area.

Oct. 30: Security forces responded to a report of a disgruntled employee located at Bldg. 1540. Upon arrival the individual calmed down and no further action was taken.

Oct. 31: Security forces responded to a report of a possible domestic issue in base housing. A parent explained there was a discussion between the parent and a child when the parent’s voice was raised. There were no signs of emotional distress, injuries or property damage and the response was terminated.

Nov. 1 Security forces reported a warrant’s hit for contempt of court at Lightning Gate.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to 16 alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

To avoid vehicle accidents distractions should be minimal such as talking or texting on a cell phone, being aware of road conditions, not encouraging aggressive drivers, keeping a safe following distance, proceeding with caution through intersections (where most accidents occur) and using a spotter when possible.
