Base-wide exercise

The 56th Fighter Wing will conduct an active-shooter exercise Dec. 18 which will include military and local, county and state law enforcement, and fire departments. Those traveling on base should expect traffic disruptions, gate closures or delays, and interruptions of customer service operations. Expect to see simulated explosions, smoke, role players depicting individuals with injuries, and emergency responders to include fire, police, ambulances and medical evacuation helicopters.

756th AMXS changes command

Lt. Col. Dominick Martin will relinquish command of the 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron in a ceremony at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Hangar 914.

AFSA meeting

The Air Force Sergeants Association Cactus Eagle Chapter 1260 will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Club Five Six Barcelona Room. For more information, go to www.afsa1260.com or call Master Sgt. Dustin Withrow at 623-856-2985.

Couples communication

A couples communication and cookie collaboration is 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Bring three dozen cookies and recipe to exchange. To register or for more information, call 623-856-2716.

Deployed family dinner

A free dinner for family members of deployed military members and ones that have recently deployed is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel annex, Bldg. 799. The event is hosted by the protestant men of the chapel and the USO. There will be presents for the children. To sign up, call 623-856-6211.

LOSC raffle

The Luke Officers Spouses Club is holding a wreath and tree raffle 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday Club 56. The event is open to the Luke community. To RSVP, email Cindy at LukeOSCReservations@gmail.com.

Leadership discussions

The Lightning Leadership Committee full-spectrum leadership discussions will be the following dates and times at McVipers, Bldg. 700, second floor:

  • Airmen meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday or 1 p.m. Wednesday
  • NCOs meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday or 9 a.m. Wednesday
  • Master sergeants meet at 9 a.m. Thursday

Journey to Bethlehem

Experience a walk with Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem and view a live nativity 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Chapel on the Mall. A petting zoo, arts and crafts, bouncy houses, photos with Santa and refreshments are included. For more information, call 623-856-6211.

Holiday chapel services

A combined protestant service is 10 a.m. Dec. 21 at the community chapel. A Christmas Eve candlelight service is 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the chapel on the mall. Catholic worship services are 6:30 p.m. Monday, Advent penance is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Christmas family Mass is 5 p.m. Dec. 24, midnight Christmas Mass is 12 a.m. Dec. 25 and Christmas morning Mass is
10 a.m. Dec. 25.

Kris Kringle Market, Santa visit

The Luke Air Force Base community is invited to the 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center Kris Kringle Market and visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus 8:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 14 in Bldg. 1143. The free event includes a continental breakfast, crafts, games, gift giveaways and more. Santa’s Gift Shop will be open for children to shop for inexpensive gifts. Holiday open house

Military members with identification from all branches are invited to Operation Holiday Open House noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Navy Operations Support Center, Bldg. 300 on Luke Air Force Base. The Oasis is featuring the following events for Airmen.

  • Dec. 24: Christmas dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Oasis
  • Dec. 25: Christmas dinner at Neith’s
  • Dec. 31: New Year’s Eve party

Give parents a break

The 56th Force Support Squadron Child Development Center and the Youth Center are offering free childcare in a safe, age-appropriate learning environment 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 21. The reservation deadline is Dec. 13. The service is for active-duty Air Force families who are experiencing stress due to a temporary duty assignment, deployment or unique hardships associated with military life to take a break. Lunch and a snack are included. For children from infant to age 5, call 623-856-6338. For children ages 6 to 12, call 623-856-7471.
