Thunderbolt hiatus

The Thunderbolt will not be published Dec. 27 or Jan. 3, 2014. Look for the 2013 Year in Review Special Edition Jan. 10. The first regular edition of the Thunderbolt is Jan. 17, 2014. For more information, call 623-856-5998.

AAFES holiday hours

Hours for concessionaires and kiosk vendors are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christmas Eve and Dec. 31. Hours for the optical shop are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve and Dec. 31. For more information, call 623-935-2671.

Holiday chapel services

A combined protestant service is 10 a.m. Sunday at the community chapel. A Christmas Eve candlelight service is 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel on the mall. Christmas family Mass is

Market on the move

Holiday open house

Military members with identification from all branches are invited to Operation Holiday Open House noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Navy Operations Support Center, Bldg. 300 on Luke Air Force Base. MLK luncheon

The Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Jan. 15, 2014, at Club Five Six. Tickets for the barbecue chicken buffet are $13 for E-4 and below and $15 for others. Luke tax center seeks volunteers

The Luke Air Force Base tax center opens its doors to file returns for the entire Luke community beginning Jan. 27, 2014. To offer this service, the tax center relies solely on volunteers (active-duty, civilians and retirees) who become certified tax preparers through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Volunteers must be trained to be certified tax preparers. Work at least four hours per week in the tax center from

Connecting families

“Daddy Read a Book” connects deployed parents with children at home by providing a free video of the parent reading a favorite book. Reading sessions are conducted 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the last Monday of the month. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Brandon Kenyon at 623-856-6211.
