Chaplain thoughts

Virginia Woolf

“If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people.”

~ Virginia Woolf

Have you ever been around those people who just can’t seem to tell the 100 percent, honest-to-God truth, about themselves? You might even be that person? Integrity is the first core value – it is the foundation upon which our Air Force and our own lives should be based. It is an absolute shame and embarrassment that 34 officers working with nuclear weapons were recently fired from their jobs for cheating, or not reporting those who did, on proficiency exams. There is an old Proverb (12:22) that tells us, “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truthfully are His delight.” We may be able to fool others, and we may even be able to fool ourselves – but God knows our heart. He knows the motivation behind our actions, and He does know the truth about us.

To do or to be? – A very good question

Col. Daniel Smith I am a huge fan of the Air Force core values. For a long time, I have felt that whatever board or individual developed the values got them absolutely right. In fact, every Airman, young or … seasoned, who co...
