Street Beat

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Jan. 15 through 24:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for 10 moving and six nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Jan. 17: Security forces responded to a minor vehicle accident involving a privately owned vehicle and a government-owned vehicle at the parking lot of Bldg. 959. There were no injuries.

Jan. 22: Security forces responded to a minor vehicle accident involving two POVs at the parking lot of the base commissary. There were no injuries.

Jan. 23: Security forces responded to a major vehicle accident involving a GOV and POV at the intersection of Bong Lane and Falcon Street. An individual was transported to West Valley Hospital for treatment. There were no other injuries.

Nonemergency responses

Jan. 16: Security forces responded to Kiowa Street in Ocotillo Housing. An individual reported an open patio door upon returning home. The individual stated the door had been locked before departure. The individual also noticed damage to the upper lock bolt, door jamb and frame, cracks below the upper lock bolt and engagement holes. Security forces examined the patio door and found the damage to be consistent with normal wear and tear.

Jan. 16: Security forces responded to a noise complaint at Bldg. 640. The individual was briefed on base quiet hours.

Jan. 17: Security forces responded to a wants and warrants hit for failure to appear from Tempe police at the South Gate visitor’s center. Tempe police was unwilling to extradite. Security Forces completed a security forces field interview data card on the individual and denied entry onto the installation.

Jan. 17: Security forces responded to a noise complaint in Saguaro Housing. An individual was briefed on base quiet hours.

Jan. 18: Security forces responded to a report of a death by natural causes at Navajo Circle. Serenity Hospice arrived on scene and transported the deceased individual to Avenida’s Funeral Home in Avondale.

Jan. 18: Security forces responded to a noise complaint in Saguaro Housing. Security forces briefed an individual on base quiet hours.

Jan. 20: Security forces responded to an absent without leave report at Lightning Gate. The individual was apprehended and transported to Bldg. 179 to be temporarily placed in a hold cell. The individual was having a possible high blood pressure and anxiety attack. Medical attention was refused. The individual was released to the first sergeant.

Jan. 20: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in the commissary parking lot. The complainant noticed minor scratches and white paint transfer on the rear, driver’s side bumper after returning from the commissary.

Jan. 20: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in the parking lot of Bldg. 668. The complainant noticed three 20-inch scratches along the passenger door and two three-inch scratches on a rear fender of the vehicle.

Jan. 21: Security forces assisted Surprise police at the intersection of Litchfield Road and Super Sabre Street with an Alzheimer’s patient who had wandered from home.

Jan. 23: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in Bldg. 897. A witness observed an operator of a crane fixing light fixtures but was unaware of damage the crane caused.

Jan. 24: Security forces responded to a report of theft of government property in Bldg. 346. Approximately 60 feet of copper pipe and metal was sitting in a dump bin.

Jan. 24: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in the parking lot of Bldg. 586.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to 13 alarm activations on base.
