Alaska

Eielson Airmen put their Self-Aid Buddy Care skills to the test during an Operational Readiness Exercise Jan. 27 through 31. Various SABC scenarios were used to evaluate the Iceman Team’s reaction and response to emergency situations.

Nevada

Jan. 30 was anything but a normal day for the patients and staff at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center at Nellis Air Force Base. A man brandishing a handgun outside the emergency room caused the hospital to lockdown at about 10 a.m., but the care provided by the 99th Medical Group staff did not stop. The medical staff’s training allowed them to continue the care that couldn’t be put on hold — such as delivering a baby.

Poland

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spent the last afternoon of his first official visit to Poland by stopping at an air base where U.S. and Polish airmen work side by side, and later at a historic church where his great-grandparents were married in 1882.

Korea

George Wallace, a Las Vegas-based comedian, gave an interview to the American Forces Network Jan. 29 during a visit to Kunsan Air Base, South Korea. Armed Forces Entertainment brought Wallace to Kunsan to entertain the Wolf Pack with laughter.
