Street Beat

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Feb. 3 through 9:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for eight moving and one nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Feb. 3: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving two privately owned vehicles located in the parking lot of Cactus Cleaners. A Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy took control. There were no injuries.

Feb. 7: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving a privately owned vehicle and a fixed object located at Bldg. 1514. No injuries were sustained.

Nonemergency responses

Feb. 3: Security forces responded to a report of an assault located in Bldg. 1540. Two individuals got into an altercation due to what one said to the other. Glendale police took control.

Feb. 4: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting located in Bldg. 1114. Two subjects were detained while the security video was reviewed verifying both subjects departed without rendering full payment. Both subjects were issued suspensions of base exchange, commissary and shoppette privileges. Glendale police took control.

Feb. 4: Security forces responded to a warrant’s hit at Lightning Gate for the offense of fraud-insufficient funds from Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, N.H. Extradition was declined and the individual was escorted off the installation.

Feb. 5: Security forces responded to a report of two wall jumpers on Kiowa Street and derogatory writings on two door window panes. The situation is under investigation.

Feb. 6: Security forces responded to a report the smell of marijuana emitting from a vehicle at South Gate. Security forces received consent to search the vehicle. A drug recognition expert and a military working dog team conducted a search with negative findings. The individuals had Arizona Medical Marijuana Program ID cards and had admitted to smoking marijuana. Both subjects were denied base entry and escorted off the installation.

Feb. 8: Security forces responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in Navajo Circle. Security forces arrived on scene and apprehended an individual for violation of Article 128/assault. Medical attention was declined.

Feb. 8: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting Bldg. 1540. Security forces reviewed the security video and verified subjects departed without paying. The individuals were issued suspension of AAFES privileges letters.

Feb. 9: Security forces responded to a report of a major vehicle accident involving a government-owned vehicle and a fixed object located on the flightline. There were no injuries.

Feb. 9: Security forces responded to a report of theft of private property on Apache Road in Saguaro housing. The complainant stated the property was inside a storage unit.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to five alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

One of the best defenses against a drunk driver is to wear a safety belt. Ensure that children or other passengers have safety belts fastened as well.
