Careers for spouses

An opportunity for a transportable career for spouses is now being offered. The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, in partnership with the National Military Family Association and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation, announced the FINRA Foundation Military Spouse Fellowship for the Accredited Financial Counselor Program. The application period is Monday through April 16. This program provides up to 50 military spouses with the education necessary to enter the financial counseling career field. USO volunteer

The USO at Sky Harbor International Airport is looking for volunteers. The USO is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily with four-hour long shifts. Training is required and might be conducted at Luke Air Force Base. For more information, call Senior Airman Deven Johnson at 623-856-9236.

ADHD 101

The Airman & Family Readiness Center is offering ADHD 101 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Financial expo

Military Saves Week culminates with a Finance Expo Saturday at the Wigwam Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park. There will be prizes and information on retirement planning, budgeting, debt reduction, credit scores, couponing and more. Register at www.fightercountry.org/seat.

Handgun training

Training on the 9mm handgun is 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Shooter’s World. The cost is $10 per single Airmen and $120 for others. The registration cost is $10 and deadline to sign up is Monday.

Street construction

Road construction has resulted in one to two lane closures on streets on base. The dates of construction are March 17 to 28 on Starfighter Street and 143rd Avenue, and through March 7 on Fighter Country Avenue. For more information, call 623-856-7051.

LOSC scholarships

The Luke Officers Spouses Club is offering scholarships to active-duty, reservists or retired military dependents seeking financial aid for fall 2014. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for military spouses and five $1,000 scholarships for graduating seniors of military dependents. AETC spouses scholarships

The Air Force Association Mike & Gail Donley Spouse Scholarship is available to military spouses and will provide $2,500 to the best qualified candidate. For more information, call Lynette Cross at 703-247-5800, ext. 4807, email lcross@afa.org or visit http://www.afa.org/SpouseScholarship.

YES program

The Air Force Aid Society Youth Employment Skills program is an on-base youth volunteer program offered at Luke Air Force Base for high school-aged dependents of active-duty/Title 10 Air Force members to learn work skills while having a positive impact on their base community. Certified and enrolled high school students can “bank” volunteer dollar credits toward their post-secondary education/training at $4 per hour volunteered in an on-base position up to $1,000 maximum over four years of high school combined. Airman’s Attic

The Airman’s Attic hours of operation are 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Thursday, and the first and third Saturdays of the month. For more information, call 623-856-6415. For more information on volunteering during these hours at the Airman’s Attic, call Staff Sgt. Breeann Frost at 623-856-7538.
