Dollars and Sense

In order to meet the requirements of financial improvement and audit readiness, the Air Force is directing a one-time effort for every Airman to validate their entitlement for the basic allowance for housing with dependent entitlement. Based on terminal digit spread (last two of the social security number), the 56th Comptroller Squadron will contact Airmen and give them 30 days to provide documentation and sign a new AF Form 594. Airmen must provide supporting documentation: marriage license, divorce decree, birth certificate, DFAS Dependency Determination, etc. Keep in mind the Airman certifying the AF Form 594 is an accountable official under the certifying officer’s legislation and can be held individually liable for payments found to be erroneous.

During March 2014, Airmen with terminal digits between 00-09 will be required to provide supporting documentation and complete the AF Form 594. During April 2014, Airmen with terminal digits between 10 through 29 will be notified.
