Vipers pit 640 hp against 25,000 lbs of thrust

22-Air-Show-FINAL
Once again the mighty F-16 Fighting Falcon will take to the tarmac against a 2014 SRT Dodge Viper at Luke Days Air Show Saturday and Sunday. The race pits the $20 million fighter, affectionately known as the ‘Viper,’ against a Dodge Viper competition Coupe, the racing version of the V-10 supercar. The match may seem one-sided, but it makes for an interesting race pitting 640 horse power against 25,000 pounds of thrust. The first Viper vs. Viper race happened at the 2002 Luke Days Air Show, making this air show the fifth where a Dodge Viper squared off against an F-16.

The race is scheduled to begin at 1:12 p.m. During the first run, an F-16 operating at military power (no afterburner) will challenge the new 2014 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe.

The second run will pit the F-16 using full afterburner against a competition coupe Dodge Viper. The competition coupe has the same motor, but is a few hundred pounds lighter.

Going into the 2014 air show, the F-16 has the lead on the Dodge with a score of 10-6.

Obviously, we don’t need subordinates undermining their leader’s authority. My intent is not to create insubordination — it is to underscore the importance of strong followership. Great leaders...

However, it happens way too often that we ignore those opportunities....
