Street Beat

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents March 16 through 23:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for one moving and three nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

March 20: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident involving a government-owned vehicle and a fixed object at Bldg. 857. There were no injuries.

Emergency responses

March 22: Security forces responded to a report of a medical emergency at Lightning Gate. The individual was transported to West Valley Hospital.

Nonemergency responses

March 17: Security forces responded to a report of an unattended child on Sioux Circle in base housing. Security forces made contact with the reporting individual who had observed an unattended child and took the child in and called security forces. Glendale police was notified and requested to respond. Security forces members observed a person driving around, looking for the 4-year-old child who had unlocked a security gate at the residence. A welfare check was conducted at the residence, and it was determined the residence did not show any signs of child endangerment or neglect. The response was terminated.

March 17: Security forces responded to a warrant’s hit from Maricopa County Superior Court at South Gate for failure to pay child support. A Maricopa County sheriff’s deputy arrived and took control.

March 21: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property at the Bldg. 289 parking lot. Security forces made contact with the individual who made the report.

March 21: Security forces responded to a warrant’s hit from Flagstaff Federal Bureau of Investigations at South Gate for the offense of dangerous drugs on an individual considered to be armed and dangerous. Security forces made contact with Glendale police who was asked to hold the individual until the FBI could respond.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to eight alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Motorcycle safety guidelines. Be visible:

  • Motorists often have trouble seeing motorcycles and reacting in time.
  • Ensure the headlight works and is on day and night.
  • Use reflective strips or decals on clothing and the motorcycle.
  • Be aware of the blind spots cars and trucks have.
  • Flash the brake lights when slowing and before stopping.
  • Honk the horn if a motorist appears to not see the motorcycle.
