5k shines light on Women’s History Month

Airmen at Luke Air Force Base take-off March 28 at the start of the Women’s History Month 5k fun run at Luke Air Force Base. The Woman’s History Month Committee also a held a luncheon to recognize contributions made by women in history. The featured woman this year was Harriet Tubman who was instrumental in the successful escape of slaves using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.

Fitness center activities

Extramural one-pitch softball tourney is April 21 through 24. Submit a letter of intent by April 11. Games are 6, 7 and 8 p.m. at the fitness center softball fields 2 and 3. A mandatory coaches meeting is 4 p.m. April 17.

Intramural softball season begins April 28. Submit a letter of intent by April 11. Games are 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the fitness center softball fields 2 and 3. A mandatory coaches meeting is 3:30 p.m. April 18.

May Fitness Month is featuring a 3-on-3 sand volleyball tournament May 5 through 8. Submit a letter of intent by April 25. A mandatory coaches meeting is 2 p.m. May 1. Matches are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Balfour Beatty Community Center Sand Volleyball Court.

Completed letters of intent must be delivered to the Bryant Fitness Center or emailed to Jemia Fournier-Allen at jemia.fournier-allen@us.af.mil.

Martial arts instructor

The 56th Fighter Wing Youth Center is looking for a qualified martial arts instructor to teach evening classes. For more information, call 623-856-7470.

Dance lessons

Ballet, tap and hip hop/jazz dance classes are available for youth Thursdays at the 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center. For schedule or more information, call 623-856-7470.
