Chaplain’s Thoughts

Gen. John Pershing

“A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while, on the contrary, an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops.”

~ John Pershing

2 Corinthians 3:5 states, “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.” What sort of a leader (or leader in training) are you? Competent or incapable? Let’s be honest, now. Whether in an official position or an informal capacity, what you do and how you do it, directly affects the work ethic and morale of others. Philippians 2:3-4 says this, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” As you go forward in life, evaluate yourself in how your attitude and actions affect those around you – and don’t be a buzzkill!
