Thunderbolt of the Week

Staff Sgt. Jack Price
56th Fighter Wing
Command post controller

June-6-TBOLT--FW--Price
Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Years in service: Nine

Previous assignments: Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, and Hurlburt Field AFB, Florida

Inspirations: My Father inspires me to think about the meaning of life and why we do what we do

Greatest feat: As an aerial gunner on a helicopter on a mission to assault a specific house in Iraq, the target didn’t look like the imagery that I’d studied. I told the pilots the computer was wrong. Because of my confidence and despite my being the lowest ranking and least experienced person, the crew listened to me and the mission was successful.

Off-duty interests: Strategy-based games, Latin and country dancing

Commander’s comments: “There are Airmen working out front and highly visible,” said Maj. Scott Smith, 56th Comptroller Squadron commander. “It’s easy for leaders to focus on those individuals, but we should be cognizant of those behind the scenes making sure the pieces fit together. Staff Sgt. Price expertly delivers in that role. He is prepared daily to deliver during critical situations and often as sole controller. He skillfully coordinates between agencies to ensure Luke’s mission is successful. He has earned our trust and faith.”
