South Carolina

Tech. Sgt. Joseph Charleston, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron fire station captain, and Senior Airman Boyd Korb, 20th CES firefighter, at Shaw Air Force Base received a Defense Department level award for heroism based on the lifesaving rescue of a downed civilian firefighter in Sumter, S.C.

Italy

Airmen and Soldiers integrated combat search and rescue capabilities during training exercises June 23 at the Cellina Meduna training grounds near Maniagoy. The training aimed to enhance interoperability between sister services, allowing Aviano Air Base personnel an opportunity to practice potential real-world scenarios.

Japan

Service members, aircraft and equipment from the 44th Fighter Squadron, 909th Air Refueling Squadron and 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron at Kadena Air Base temporarily repositioned to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, June 18, as part of an aviation training relocation mission.

Philippines

Twenty-five Airmen from the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron from Yokota Air Base, Japan, partnered with Philippine air force members during Operation Pacific Unity May 19 to June 20 providing relief to teachers and students in the Philippines by constructing two permanent concrete classrooms and restoring electricity and running water to the school.
