Base-wide exercise

The 56th Fighter Wing will conduct an active-shooter exercise Aug. 15. The exercise will include military and local, county and state law enforcement, and fire departments. On and off-base residents should expect traffic disruptions, gate closures or delays, and interruptions of customer service operations. Expect to see simulated explosions, smoke, role players depicting individuals with injuries, and emergency responders to include fire, police, ambulances and medical evacuation helicopters.

OSS change of command

Lt. Col. Keith Rockow will relinquish command of the 56th Operations Support Squadron to Lt. Col. Jason Hokaj at 8 a.m. July 22 in the Navy Operational Support Center.

MSG change of command

Col. Nathan Mooney will relinquish command of the 56th Mission Support Squadron to Col. James Kossler at 8 a.m. July 24 in Hangar 431.

OG change of command

Col. John Hanna will relinquish command of the 56th Operations Group to Col. William Bailey at 8 a.m. July 25 in Hangar 431.

ACC Det. 9 change of command

Lt. Col. James Warf III will relinquish command of Detachment 9, ACC Training Support Squadron, to Lt. Col. Anthony Kuczynski at 10 a.m. today at the Navy Operational Support Center.

MXG change of command

Col. Victor Mora will relinquish command of the 56th Maintenance Group to Col. Ricky Ainsworth at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Hangar 431.

MDG change of command

Col. Yolanda Bledsoe will relinquish command of the 56th Medical Group to Col. Maureen Charles at 7:56 a.m. July 18 in Hangar 431. The MDG and flight medicine will be closed until 9:30 a.m. on July 18 for the event.

Litchfield Road closure

Litchfield Road will close at the Northern Parkway bridge at 5 a.m. Monday and reopen by 5 p.m. July 24. Signs will indicate detour routes. Northern Parkway traffic will not be affected.

Comprehensive Airman Fitness training

Comprehensive Airman Fitness Training is July 22 through 24. It is a three-day course for Airmen or Defense Department employees who endorse the resiliency program. Resilience training assistants provide awareness education and skill development techniques for Airman and their families while enhancing individual resilience across the four domains of CAF: mental, physical, social, and spiritual. Road closures

Repaving and water line installation will close Bong Lane from Marauder Street north to Gillespie Drive, Gillespie Drive from Litchfield Road south to Harris Lane and 139th Drive along Litchfield Road through

Camp Connect

Camp Connect is a summer day camp for children ages 6 to 12 within the autism spectrum. Camp is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through July 18 at Wildflower Elementary School. The cost is $250 per one-week session and is waived for active-duty military dependents.
