New Mexico

Airmen from every specialty completed a four-day deployment exercise Aug. 20 at Holloman Air Force Base as part of the Air Force Commander’s Inspection Program. Air Force’s CIP was rolled out 2013 and specifically focuses on the bases’ ability to rapidly deploy combat-ready Airmen and equipment worldwide.

Romania

Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base started operations in February and has already processed more than 85,000 troops. The ability to conduct operations there gives combatant commanders flexibility and responsiveness moving equipment, supplies and troops into and out of the U.S. European Command and U.S. Central Command areas of operations.

Afghanistan

Since its 2004 inception, the 466th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operating Location Bravo Flight at Kandahar Airfield has seen more than 600 explosive ordnance disposal technicians complete more than 10,000 missions. As the flight’s last chapter closes in September, the final rotation is ensuring all assets are returned and their history reflected upon.

South Korea

Called by many names throughout its 28-year history, Ulchi Freedom Guardian, the largest computerized command and control exercise in the world, kicked off Aug. 18 and ends today. UFG focuses on increasing the readiness and interoperability of South Korea and U.S. forces to defend South Korea if needed.
