Stand up for vets

The 3rd Annual Stand Up For Veterans event is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Glendale Community College Student Union. There will be employment opportunities, social services, legal services, free hair cuts for veterans, free lunch for vets and their families, and more. The POW/MIA Retreat

Take back day at Luke

People can drop off old prescription drugs on Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Luke Air Force Base Exchange. For more information, call Robert Degoey at 623-856-6450.

U.S. AF birthday flag raising

The city of Litchfield Park will celebrate the 68th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force with a flag raising ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 18 on the front lawn of Litchfield Park City Hall, 214 W. Wigwam Blvd. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call city hall at 623-935-5033.

MPS closed

Hispanic Heritage Month events

Events for this year’s NHHM taking place at Luke Air Force Base include a food tasting and salsa contest from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. Tuesday at the Luke Community Chapel kitchen, a book reading 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Luke Library, golf tournament with shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course, piñata making 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center, bake sale 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Luke Community Chapel, and a luncheon 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Club Five Six. EFMP respite care providers

The Exceptional Family Member Program provides respite care free of charge to active-duty Airman, Air Guard and Reserve members who have been activated for at least 31 days. Providers will be paid hourly by the contracted provider. An exceptional family member child is age birth through 18 who has been diagnosed with a severe or moderate special need. Siblings, age birth through 12, are also covered for respite care. Families receive 12 hours per month of free respite care per EFM child. FUNtastic Friday

Youth ages 6 to 12 participate in activities from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Luke Air Force Base Youth Programs’ FUNtastic Friday event. A nonrefundable early registration fee of $10 per YP member and $12 per guest is due by 5 p.m. Sept. 23. Thereafter, the cost is $15 per YP member and $17 per guest. Free snacks provided plus the snack bar will be open. Athletic shoes are required. For more information, call 623-856-7471.

Family camp out

The 56th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation is featuring the Luke Air Force Base family camp out 4 p.m. Oct. 16 through breakfast Oct. 17. The cost is $10 for a family of four and $5 for each additional member. Bring a tent or rent a camping package at ODR for $15. It includes a tent and four sleeping bags. NCOPEC

NCO Professional Enhancement Course offers staff and technical sergeants an opportunity to interact with their peers while enhancing supervisory skills. It is a developmental course with a focus on the NCO tier who have completed Airman Leadership School three or more years ago but have not yet attended NCO Academy. The course is four full days and requires leadership approval. The class date is Tuesday through Sept. 18 at the ALS auditorium, Bldg 156. For more information, call Master Sgt.
