Finance office closed

The 56th Comptroller Squadron Finance Customer Service office will be closed 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 due to an official function. For more information, call Master Sgt. Lisa Krejci at 623-856-3995.

Chapel events

The 56th Fighter Wing Chapel is presenting a flightline feast at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bldg. 914 fire pit, a deployed family dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Luke Community Chapel and Hallelujah night is 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 a the LCC. For more information, call 623-856-6211.

MDG closure

The 56th Medical Group will be closed Thursday for training. MDG will resume normal duty hours Oct. 9. For more information, call 623-856-CARE (2273).

Luke thrift shop

The Luke Thrift Shop, located at 13975 W. Phantom St. in Bldg. 750 (the old officer’s club), is now open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Friday. Consignments are taken until 1 p.m. For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/LukeAirForceBaseThriftShop.

Ladies crud tournament

Teams are now forming for the ladies crud tournament happening at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in the old officer’s club, Bldg. 750. Entry fee is $30 per team. MPOY golf tournament

The 56th Fighter Wing Maintenance Professional of the Year banquet golf tournment is 7:30 shotgun start Oct. 9 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. Hispanic Heritage Month events

A piñata making game night for youth is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center and a bake sale is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Luke Community Chapel. EFMP support group

Club Beyond

Club Beyond is where friends, fun and faith connect. High school-age youth meet at 7:27 p.m. Mondays and middle schoolers meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Activities are planned for other days and times. For more information, call 623-856-6211 or email asiefert@clubbeyond.org.

Veteran training

The Department of Veterans Affairs is featuring online training courses to assist veterans with a number of issues including overcoming life’s challenges, parenting, managing stress, and anger and irritability. For more information, go to http://www.veterantraining.va.gov.

Give parents a break

The 56th Force Support Squadron Child Development Center and Youth Center are offering free childcare in a safe, age-appropriate learning environment 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 17. The reservation deadline is Thursday. The service is for active-duty Air Force families who are experiencing stress due to a temporary duty assignment, deployment or unique hardships associated with military life. Lunch and a snack are included. For children from infant to age 5, call 623-856-6338. For children ages 6 to 12, call 623-856-7471.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed on Make a Difference Day to help clean up trash, install new signs, paint over graffiti and more to improve the Tres Rios area. The time is 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Base & Meridian Wildlife Recreation Area next to Phoenix International Raceway at 7602 S. Avondale Blvd. in Avondale.
