Welcome to Luke Air Force Base and our “75 Years of Airpower” air show. We are very excited about this year’s event as we open our gates to our incredible neighbors and fellow Arizonans. The men and women of Luke are proud to call the Valley home and to share our mission with each and every one of you.
Luke AFB has trained fighter pilots for every war and conflict since we were called Litchfield Park Air Base back in 1941, so it’s special that we get to celebrate 75 years of service here in the West Valley with an air show.
We are excited to have the Air Force’s premier aerial demonstration team the Thunderbirds on hand this year. The Thunderbirds were activated here at Luke in 1953. They are best known for their amazing precision performances, designed to exhibit the capabilities of the F-16 high-performance aircraft, the same aircraft that calls Luke home year-round.
We’re also very excited to introduce our very own U.S. Air Force F-35 Heritage Team who will be making their debut right here at home. The F-35 will be the backbone of the Air Force fighter fleet and represent the future for the U.S., our partners and allies. You’ll get to see for yourself just how far airpower has come over the years while we honor our past, present and future!
An event of this size wouldn’t be possible without the support of our local communities and the many generous sponsors whose contributions have been critical to the success of this show.
Over the next two days, you will see some exciting aerial acts, an array of static displays from both the past and present, and have the chance to interact with the Airmen who carry out the Luke mission of “Training the World’s Greatest F-35 and F-16 Fighter Pilots.” The Airmen at Luke are excited for the chance to say ‘thank you’ to the community for the incredible support they give our mission each day.
