The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System’s Tucson VA campus will be hosting a local National Veterans Creative Arts competition 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 7 in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium, Bldg. 4 located at 3601 S. 6th Ave. Tucson, AZ 85723.
There will be a performing artist’s jam session from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and at 1:30 p.m. we will announce the local first place winners.
The art on display will include visual arts, such as paintings, photographs, and sculptures that were all created by Veterans enrolled at SAVAHCS.
Nationwide, Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities use the creative arts as one form of rehabilitative treatment to help Veterans recover from and cope with physical and emotional disabilities.
The competition is open to Veterans who are enrolled at a VA Medical Center or Outpatient Clinic before entering a local competition. An eligible Veteran can enter a local competition at only one VA facility per year. Veterans can also submit entries in creative writing, dance, drama or music categories.
