‘Your Everyday Savings!’
Commissary prices on hundreds of popular items are now even lower and easier to spot with the Defense Commissary Agency’s new “YES!” program.
Short for “Your Everyday Savings,” the YES! program helps make stateside commissaries more competitive with grocers outside the gate who often lower prices on certain goods to entice consumers inside their store where more expensive items await, said retired Rear Adm. Robert Bianchi, DeCA’s interim director and CEO.
YES items include popular brands of flavored iced teas, pasta, macaroni and cheese, Spam, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, baby food, nutritional shakes, potato chips and other selected snack foods, apple juice, vegetable juice, coffee creamer, coffee, energy drinks, soup, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, avocadoes, paper towels, toilet tissue, bottled water, dish soap, fabric softener, and pet food.

Savings on emergency supplies
In the aftermath of the 2017 historic hurricane season, the Defense Commissary Agency reminds its patrons to save money by using their commissary benefit to load up on the supplies they need to be ready for the next crisis. Through Oct. 31, DeCA’s severe weather promotional package includes discounts on beef jerky and other assorted meat snacks, soup and chili mixes, canned goods, powdered milk, cereals, batteries, airtight bags, weather-ready flashlights, tape (all-weather, heavy-duty shipping and duct), first-aid kits, lighters, matches, lanterns, candles, hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes. Specific items may vary from store to store.

Lifestyle festivals
The military resale community is hosting the fifth annual worldwide Healthy Lifestyle Festival through early July. See event schedule for locations and dates. Every year, the festival offers military communities the best in food, merchandise and events related to living a healthy lifestyle from commissaries; exchanges; morale, welfare and recreation activities; installation medical commands and industry.
“We’re encouraging our military community to take this opportunity to see, sample, taste and purchase the latest in health and wellness products,” Bianchi said. “We want them to discover the healthiest lifestyle possible – right there on their installations.”
Patrons are advised to check local media for specific details of their festival.
