Staff Sgt. Staci Miller Col. David Shoemaker, 56th Fighter Wing vice commander, signs the 2015 fire prevention proclamation at the Luke Air Force Base fire department. In 1920, President Woodrow Wilson issued the first National Fire Prevention Day proclamation. Since 1922, fire prevention week has been observed every year the week of Oct. 9.
