Easter Sunday Commissary Closure

The March ARB Commissary will be closed all day Easter Sunday, April 8. Saturday and Monday will be regular business hours. March Commissary encourages it’s patrons to plan accordingly for their Easter grocery shopping needs and wishes everyone a Happy Easter.

Total Force Service Center Closed for Maintenance

The Total Force Service Center (TFSC) will be unable to take calls during the following time due to scheduled system maintenance. Customers calling the TFSC during this period will hear the “System Maintenance” message and will be asked to call back at a later time. The system will be out at 6 p.m. (CST) on March 24 through 4 p.m. (CST) on March 25.

Next Yellow Ribbon Event Set

The next Yellow Ribbon event is scheduled for April 27″“29 in Anaheim. You must register by April 10th. This event is for all pre and post deployers. There is a new process for registering family members and guests. The member will register on the link and indicate if they are bringing guests. You will be directed to another link (upon completion of the registration). You then will register your guests, one at a time. Make sure you indicate the correction number of guests to ensure your registration numbers are correct. The registration link can be obtain from your unit.

Air Force Aid Society Falcon Loan Program changes

The Air Force Aid Society’s Falcon Loan Program provides interest-free loans for emergency assistance. Changes are: loans have increased from $500 to $750 and loan frequency has increased from two to four Falcon Loans per Air Force career. Loans are available to all active duty AF personnel and their spouses with Power of Attorney when service member is deployed and AF Reserve or Air National Guard personnel activated under Title 10 U.S.C. orders who have no outstanding loan balance with the AFAS. League of Latin American Citizens March Chapter meets March 24

The March LULAC chapter will hold its third meeting on the B UTA, Saturday, March 24, 11 a.m. in the Mission Support Group conference room. All are welcome. Spouse/Caregiver scholarship application availible

The deadline to postmark your application for the Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship program is April 2. Scholarship awards are $5,000 to be made co-payable to the scholarship recipient’s institution for payment of tuition, books and supplies and may be reapplied for up to four years for a maximum of $20,000. The application process is the same for new applicants and renewals.

More than 100 pounds lost by group since January!

Weight Watchers meets every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the Hap Arnold Club. The group has collectively lost more than 100 pounds since it began in January. Come to a meeting to check it out or call Linda Welz at 951-655-2862 or linda.welz@us.af.mil for more information.

Volunteer income tax assistance center offers free preparation, filing

Get your taxes filed for FREE at the March Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center, located on base in Bldg. 417, behind the Honor Guard building, Monday through Friday and UTA weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop by to pick up a personal tax questionnaire in advance if you can. Taxes are filed electronically and refunds should show up in your account in 7-10 business days. For more information, contact them at 951-655-3659.

Plans made for 7th Annual Salute to Veterans Parade

The Salute to Veterans Parade Committee will host its annual parade in the city of Riverside on Saturday, April 21, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Parade participants will stage at the Riverside City College parking lots off Ramona Dr. Units will proceed north on Ramona to Magnolia Ave., turn right on Magnolia/Market, right onto 10th St., right again onto Main St. and end two blocks past the historic Riverside County Courthouse in the Jury Parking Lot on Main St. Reviewing stands and announcers will be near the corner of Market and 10th Streets. The 2012 Grand Marshall is retired Brig. Gen. Stan Brown. Parking in downtown Riverside and in the Riverside Community College parking structure on parade day is free. 2012 Teen Leadership Summit registration open throughout April 13

The Air Force Reserve Command’s Teen Leadership Summit registration is open through April 13, 2012, for all Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard dependent teens ages 15-18. The Classic Summit is June 17-22 in Dahlonega, Ga., and the Adventure Summit is Aug. 7-12 in Estes Park, Colo. Both camps combine high adventure activities and hands-on leadership workshops with an opportunity to meet other military teens from across the country. Important information for USAF marathon Team March Runners

For the second year in a row the 452d Air Mobility Wing is sending a team to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, for the USAF Marathon. Our team will travel on a C-17 departing March Field Sept. 14 for the Marathon the following day and return via military air on Sept. 16. All active, Guard, Reserve and Retirees are eligible to fly with us. Available seats on the mission are limited to 100, so it’s first-come, first-served. Right now seats are at 50% capacity. Museum welcomes home Vietnam Veterans with annual celebration

The March Field Air Museum will hold its 3rd-annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day March 31, beginning at 1 p.m. in conjunction with the Wall That Heals exhibit. The free event is open to the public.

Aviation Roundtable Presentation March 27

The Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable’s next program is on “The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III” on March 27 at 7p.m. at the March Field Air Museum. The guest speaker is Lt. Col. Tom Maxwell, USAF (Ret.). Maxwell is a former USAF Pilot, Aerospace Executive and Test Pilot Instructor.  His USAF Career included the accumulation of over 6,000 hours in numerous high-performance and transport aircraft. Maxwell was a member of a team that developed the requirements for a new transport, the C-17. In addition to the U.S. Air Force flying the C-17, it is also flown by United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Qatar, United Arab Emirates  and NATO Heavy Airlift Wing.

The Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable is sponsored by the March Field Air Museum, and is dedicated to the local aviation and aerospace community. They hold monthly meetings, open to the public, where subjects of interest to the air-minded public are presented. They encourage lively informal discussion of these presentations, and of other timely subjects raised by the attendees.  Subjects include aviation and aerospace history, civil and military, as well as new developments in these fields. Parking and admission are free. The March Field Air Museum is located adjacent to March Air Reserve Base, at 22550 Van Buren Blvd., east of the intersection of Van Buren Blvd. and the 215 Freeway.
