Museum welcomes home Vietnam Veterans with celebration

The March Field Air Museum will hold its 3rd Annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day March 31, beginning at 1 p.m. in conjunction with the Wall That Heals exhibit. The free event is open to the public.

Volunteer Income tax assistance center offers free preparation, filing

Get your taxes filed for FREE at the March Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center, located on base in Bldg. 417, behind the Honor Guard building, Monday through Friday and UTA weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop by to pick up a personal tax questionnaire in advance if you can. Taxes are filed electronically and refunds should show up in your account in 7-10 business days. For more information, contact them at 951-655-3659.

HUD Grants provide assistance to own home, keep existing home

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will fund more than $42 million in housing counseling grants to 468 national, regional and local organizations. The grants will assist homebuyers and homeowners in money management while increasing awareness of the home purchase process, and assisting with securing their financial futures. As a result of this, hundreds of thousands of households will have an increased chance of owning a home or keeping their existing home. 452D Bomb Wing Reunion April 24 in Hemet

The 452d Bomb Wing will hold a reunion, Tues., April 24, at the Hemet, Calif., Elks Club located at 1305 W. Florida St. The event is scheduled for 10 – 11 a.m. followed by lunch. Ed Whaley is driving 1,200 miles to attend and renew his Korean War acquaintances. Members from the 452d Air Mobility Wing who are interested in the history are invited to attend.

Spouse/caregiver scholarship applications available

The deadline to postmark your application for the Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship program is April 2. Scholarship awards are $5,000 to be made co-payable to the scholarship recipient’s institution for payment of tuition, books and supplies and may be reapplied for up to four years for a maximum of $20,000. The application process is the same for new applicants and renewals.

Plans made for 7th Annual Salute to Veterans Parade

The Salute to Veterans Parade Committee will host its annual parade in the city of Riverside on Saturday, April 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parade participants will stage at the Riverside City College parking lots off Ramona Dr. Units will proceed north on Ramona to Magnolia Ave., turn right on Magnolia/Market, right onto 10th St., right again onto Main St. and end two blocks past the historic Riverside County Courthouse in the Jury Parking Lot on Main St. Reviewing stands and announcers will be near the corner of Market and 10th Streets. The 2012 Grand Marshall is retired Brig. Gen. Stan Brown. Parking in downtown Riverside and in the Riverside Community College parking structure on parade day is free. Public Notice of Availability

March Air Reserve Base has prepared a Draft Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP) for the base. The document will be available for public review and comment from March 12, through April 10, 2012. This document will be available locally at the Moreno Valley Public Library, or may be obtained by contacting Will Strickland, Program Manager for Natural Resources at 951-655-2197.

Important information for USAF Marathon Team March Runners

For the second year in a row the 452d Air Mobility Wing is sending a team to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, for the USAF Marathon. Our team will travel on a C-17 departing March Field Sept. 14 for the Marathon the following day and return via military air on Sept. 16. All active, Guard, Reserve and Retirees are eligible to fly with us. Available seats on the mission are limited to 100, so it’s first-come, first-served. Right now seats are at 50% capacity, so DON’T DELAY!! E-mail marchfitt@gmail.com to receive explicit instructions on registration, lodging, etc.

Tuition Assistance reimbursements delayed

Tuition Assistance by the Air Force Reserve Command recently enacted a process change which has caused delayed reimbursements dating back to Dec 2011. Currently, it is taking 12 weeks to receive payment once the grades are received. The Education Office is not able to guarantee when TA will be paid nor are they able to notify members when TA payments are received. Senior NCOS step up to assist Command Chief Master Sergeant Kelly

A team of senior noncommissioned officers-in-charge have volunteered to fill the shoes of the 452d Air Mobility Wing’s command chief, Ericka Kelly, from March 26 through June 14, during Kelly’s temporary duty for her civilian job.
