Following March personnel in 130-character micro messages

SSgt Collin Everson

Swing Shift, 452 SFS
HOMETOWN: Hemet, Ca.

0700 Daughter is up… Sleeping until noon is not going to happen!

1000 Time to get ready for work. Hope I’m posted somewhere with a decent view.

1200 Should to be out the door and headed to work, but knowing me, I probably forgot something.

1215 Yep, just as I figured… Forgot to pack lunch. Where are my truck keys!?!

1220 Keys were in my pocket the entire time. Finally headed to work. Hope I get there on time.

1259 Walking into the squadron with a minute to spare, which is not good because in Security Forces, if you are on time, you are late!

1315 Armed up with my weapons and standing at the guard-mount; it’s the area just past the gate with the protective barricade. No one trying to bust through the gate with a full on assault. Just routine cop stuff.

1345 Feeling like I need to hydrate, so I head back to the command center for a quick drink. The senior master sgt. loves the Dew; I think will “borrow” one of the Dews from his snack bar and then run back to post. BTW sorry Senior!

1400 Out patrolling the mean streets of March ARB, no violators so far. Watch out with your speeding, because all eyes are on you!

1630 The whole base is heading home for the day!! That’s ok, I am still here to protect and serve!

1800 Still protecting and serving; living the dream!

1900 TDY C-17 just landed. Time to rope it off on the flight line, even though it leaves tomorrow… we have to do, what we have to do!

1945 Hmmm… I have some extra rope and cones. Maybe I should go rope off the on-duty desk sergeant’s car!… Not a chance… still on duty.

2000 I see SFS guys with fresh faces walking through the door; it must be the midshift crew!!! That means I am almost off!!!

2145 Joke’s on me! This always happens… just when I am ready to go home, I remember it’s Monday, which means physical training after work; you have to love the two mile runs. Hoooah!!
