I am a true connoisseur of ethnic foods, so to celebrate, I visited as many Asian-style restaurants in the area that I can find; sushi is a favorite of mine. On a serious note, I appreciate that DoD raises heritage awareness and diversity within the military. In the future, I would like to celebrate by organizing a parade or something similar to raise awareness and to capture an even larger audience. Understanding one another is a big part in being able to work together as a team to ensure the success of the mission. We all wear the same uniform and bleed the same color.

Hobbies: Weightlifting and Motorcycles.
To be honest, I didn’t celebrate in any special manner this month because I choose to celebrate and acknowledge my heritage every day of the year. I spend as much time as I can with the people I love, family and friends and people I highly respect. We cooked, laughed, ate, and listened to music that we grew up to. I love my heritage so I live it everyday as much as I can.â€

During this month, my kids and I usually perform Hawaiian dances at county fairs and on-base events. We showed the community the cultures of the Pacific…we bring the Pacific to them. Next year, I hope to organize an Asian/Pacific American committee and raise awareness of base personnel about the cultures of the Pacific. I will introduce the different types of food, entertainment and languages to Team March. I remember when I was stationed overseas. Armed Forces Network would have infomercials explaining certain facts about different cultures within the Asian/Pacific Islander communities. It really raised awareness throughout the DOD community.
