Col. James B. Finney, vice commander, 452nd Air Mobility Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, March Air Reserve Base, Calif.
Col. James Finney reported for duty as the 452nd Air Mobility Wing, vice commander, earlier this month. Prior to March ARB, Col. Finney was vice commander of the 911th Airlift Wing, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pa. During that assignment, he served an eight-month period as the full-time wing commander. Finney also served as the Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the Pacific Air Forces Director of Operations, Plans, Requirements, and Programs at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. He held numerous leadership positions at the wing, group and squadron level and was the chief of Airlift Standards and Tactics at 4th Air Force. He also deployed as commander of the Tanker Task Force at Andersen AFB, Guam in support of the Pacific Theater Security Package.
Col. Finney served overseas in support of Operations JOINT ENDEAVOR, ALLIED FORCE, PHOENIX SCORPION, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM including commanding the first-ever C-17A daylight assault landing in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He has also served as an instructor pilot during OPERATION DEEP FREEZE supplying the National Science Foundation interests in Antarctica. Col. Finney is a command pilot with over 5,600 military flight hours, including several hundred combat hours.
