FREE ADMISSION TO BLUE STAR MUSEUMS FOR ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND DEPENDENTS

Blue Star museums will be offering free admission to active duty military and their dependents until Sept 3. The museums are a collaboration among the National Endowment of the Arts, Blues Star Families, DOD and more than 1,800 museums across America. 5K RUN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The March Fitness Center, America’s Kids/Adult Run and the First Sergeants’ Association are hosting a 9/11 Remembrance 5K on the morning of the Military Appreciation Picnic, Sept. 8. The event will begin with registration at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up/tear down, manning of water stations, registration, distribution of T-Shirts and timekeepers.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Master Sgt. AUGUST YELLOW RIBBON EVENT

Registration is now open for the August Yellow ribbon event. The event will be held from Aug. 17 to 19, in Tucson, Ariz. and will host programs, resources, referrals and services to minimize stress on families during all phases of deployment. RSVP by 22 July. YOUTH SERVICE AMERICA OFFERS SCHOOL GRANTS

Youth Service America is currently accepting applications for the 2012-2013 YSA Grant School and program year. The Harris Wofford Youth Award and the Harris Wofford Young Educator Award will be given to deserving applicants. For more information, visit www.YSA.org/grants.

 

EMBRY-RIDDLE WAIVES APPLICATION FEE FOR MILITARY

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has waived the application fee for active duty military and reservists until Sept. 30. The waiver applies to associates, bachelors and masters programs. For more information, please contact the ERAU office at 951-653-4074.

 

HEALTHCARE ASSISTANCE FOR UNINSURED AIRMEN

Airmen without health care insurance can utilize NeedyMeds, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit information resource devoted to helping people in need find assistance programs to help them afford their medications and costs related to health care. Their website has databases such as Patient Assistance Programs, Disease-Based Assistance and a current list of 1040 free clinics in Calif. FREE YMCA MEMBERSHIPS FOR MILITARY CHILDREN

The YMCA Military Outreach Program receives assistance from the Defense Department to pay for military dependant memberships and respite care for military family members. 452 FSS HOSTS FUN RUN TO BENEFIT WOUNDED WARRIORS

The Wounded Warrior 5K/10K Run/Walk will be held at the Fit 2 Fight track, August 7, at 7 a.m. Medals and t-shirts will be awarded. Participants can register at the Fitness Center or email request to pamela.smith.2@us.af.mil. Donations will benefit the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

 

ATTENTION MARCH RUNNERS!

We are less than two months out from the Air Force Marathon! Unfortunately due to mission requirements the original allocation of 100 PAX has been scaled down to 86. Currently we have 95 seats spoken for, which means we are 9 over. Please advise if you are no longer able to participate. JUMP INTO SUMMER THE HEALTHY WAY WITH WEIGHT WATCHERS

All Team March employees and their family members are invited to attend a complimentary Weight Watchers meeting any Thursday at noon at Aces Sports Bar in the Hap Arnold Club to learn how the program works. Current members include civilian, military, men and women. Group members also pair up for walking and other fitness-related activities.
