Following March personnel in 130-character micro-messages

Staff Sgt. Michael Stanforth

Aircrew Flight Equipment, 912th ARS
Hometown: Ocala, Florida

0450 I roll out of bed, get dressed and head to the gym for about an hour to get my adrenaline flowing so that I can start my day with plenty of energy.

0715 I arrive to work to see my coworkers searching for their go-drinks and that first cup of coffee. While prepping for the day, we have idle chat about our Fantasy Football picks and which teams played over the weekend.

0735 As I run down my list of responsibilities in the parachute section, I see that we need to pack and inspect 60 Back Automatic parachutes. On a side bar, we also need to allot some time to update our publications library… we have a suspense date that is quickly approaching.

0905 Just got pulled away to assist with flight line operations. We need to upload an aircraft with mission-essential life saving gear, such as quick dons, life rafts, life preservers, survival vest and body armor.

1005 On the way back, I check in with the Oxygen section to let them know what flightline equipment is needed. They inspect and maintain pilot helmets, quick dons and nuclear-flash goggles.

1015 Back to my parachutes. After completing, I carefully gather up my tools and place them in the toolkit, so that I do not accidentally leave one in the shoot.

1030 BREAK TIME!!! Time to dream about taking that trip to the beach with my loving family.

1130 Now, off to the gym with my shop. We participate in some good, clean, pickup basketball at the gym.

1310 Back at work and time to check up on my other programs, such as Safety and Communications Security.

1450 I stop by the flotation section to ask to a few questions about the rafts they are working on…I need to stay current because you never know when you will be needed to assist.

1620 I check my E-mail one last time, police up my section, lock up and head for home.

1755 I finally reach home, where I’m greeted by my lovely wife Destinee, 2-year old daughter, Braylee, and my dog Tank. Family is my number one priority. They support me and I’m thankful for that.
