Events Department, March Field Air Museum

The March Field Air Museum and the Feed the Dawgs project present the 13th Annual War Dog Event, on Saturday Feb. 16, at 10 a.m., honoring and remembering our canine heroes and their handlers that served in battle. The event is free to the public, in the Heritage Courtyard, at the March Field Air Museum.

The “Dawgs on Hawgs” Motorcycle ride will arrive at the museum at 9 a.m. This group of riders is comprised of American Legion and Patriot Guard riders. The Guest speaker for the program will be Lt. Col. Kevin Prindiville, Provost Marshall, Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. The event also features a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Demonstration following the ceremony. No personal pets are allowed.

On Sunday, Feb. 17, the museum will host the second Iron Dog Competition. This competition is for United States Military Working Dogs/Improvised Detection Dogs teams. Dogs will compete in an outdoor obstacle course that includes four elements: aggression/attack with suit and sleeve, drug/explosive detection, endurance run and obstacle course. Participants compete for trophies, gear and the ultimate bragging rights of “Top Dawg!”

Outdoor events are free. March Field Air Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.
