Fitness means something to every Air Force member, with Fit 2 Fight as the leading doctrine to ensure members receive the most up-to-date information pertaining to health and fitness. To remain mission-ready all members must meet certain standards. While this is nothing new to members, it is a requirement we need to remain conscious of year-round.
Most members at March are traditional reservists, serving, at a minimum, one drill weekend a month and 15-days per year of annual tour. While this can be sufficient time to excel in ones job and maintain currency on training, it is not sufficient time to focus on our overall wellness.
Air Force members are in a constant state of preparedness. If we want the mission to run smoothly, we must spend a considerable amount of time ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. Our bodies and health deserve the same amount of attention.
Remaining Fit 2 Fight incorporates physical and mental health. Physically, members must be fit for duty to respond when duty calls and remain fit to pass physical training requirements. Mentally, members must exercise their minds to support productivity and creativity in order to make the right choices.
The Beacon will begin hosting a fitness column on Unit Training Assembly weekends, focused on physical and mental health affairs. Topics of discussion will include fitness, trends, habits and a variety of other related subjects. This will provide Team March members with information, inspiration, motivation and insight pertaining to developing and/or maintaining Total Fitness for the Total Force.
