452nd Maintenance Group commander, Col. Max J. Stitzer, receives the guidon from former 452nd Maintenance Operations Squadron commander, Lt. Col. Dang Nguyen, signifying the squadron’s inactivation. The Sept. 8th ceremony, held in Bldg. 355, was attended by Col. Mahaney, 452nd AMW commander and his wife, Chris; Col. James Finney, 452nd AMW vice commander and other group and squadron commanders, in addition to members of the deactivated squadron.

The squadron, which was activated Oct. 1, 2002, due to Air Force-wide reorganization of aircraft maintenance and logistics functions when the former 452nd Logistic Support Squadron was restructured into the 452nd MOS and teh 452nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. During its 11-year history, the 452nd MOS participated in operations DEEP FREEZE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM and NEW DAWN, providing critical maintenance support functions that included planning, controlling, scheduling, training and administration.

The members of the former squadron will be realigned under the 452nd Maintenance Group and will continue to provide outstanding logistics, resource management, staff support and maintenance training.
