LOSS OF SSI TEAM MEMBER JOHN NODD

John Nodd, retired Air Force veteran and SSI team member who worked for Airfield Management at Base Operations, passed away Saturday. He is survived by his wife of many years, Hiroko, who is surrounded by family and members of her church. Services will be at The Grove Community Church in Riverside, Calif., Monday, Sept 23rd at 10:30 a.m.

March Field Museum Searching for Hidden Treasures

The March Field Air Museum staff is asking family members of war veterans to search their attics, garages and other storage areas for wartime memorabilia. The museum’s Find Our Hidden Treasures campaign is in full swing. Please consider donating your items for display purposes. For more information call the March Field Air Museum at (951) 902-5204.

SAFETY ADVISORY

Drivers and pedestrians traveling near the Air Traffic Control Tower, Bldg. 1220, should proceed with caution due to the construction of the new tower. The gate entering the Flightline at Base Ops (F18) is now closed. All personnel needing access will still sign in at Base Ops, then enter the Flightline through the gate at Security Forces (Bldg. 470).

Registration open for Yellow Ribbon Event

The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP)promotes the well-being of our deployers, their family members and communities by connecting them with resources throughout and beyond the deployment cycle. The next Yellow Ribbon Training Event to be held in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 22-24, 2013. Email or call Senior Master Sgt. TAP Slots Available

Los Angeles Air Force Base will conduct Transition Assistance Program classes for interested military members and their families.

Dates are: Oct. 7- 11; Nov. 4 – 8; Dec. 9 – 13

Note: Members must have pre-separation counseling prior to attending these classes. Reservists will not be reimbursed for travel or per diem. To make reservations, call 310-653-5428.

EMCEES AND NATIONAL ANTHEM SINGER ANNOUNCED FOR MILITARY BALL

Audition results for emcees and National Anthem singer for this year’s military ball have been announced. Congratulations to Staff Sgt. Jennifer Collins, 4th Combat Camera Squadron, singer and Chief Master Sgt. Sherry Jensen, 452nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron and Master Sgt. Linda Welz, 452nd Air Mobility Wing, emcees.

Emergency Management Office Seeking Volunteers

THANKSGIVING MEALS FOR MARCH WORKERS

Moreno Valley VFW Post 8547 will provide Thanksgiving Day Meals to all 24-hour work agencies on base during Thanksgiving. In order to notify and involve as many people as possible, they are asking for points of contact for agencies who will be working shift through Thanksgiving. Their goal is to instill overall morale and to thank the men & women of March ARB for their continued commitment and support. EDUCATION NEWS AND UPDATES

New Tuition Assistance Process: Beginning Oct. 1, TA will be paid to the school up front instead of reimbursed to the student. Visit http://www.afrc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123359554 for more information.

FY14 funding for TA has not been approved, yet. So any class starting Oct. 1 or later, will not be approved until funding is made available.

Community College of the Air Force: The next Team March CCAF graduation is scheduled for the combined UTA in Dec.

DANTES/CLEP: March ARB will no longer be able to provide testing for DANTES or CLEP. The nearest military facility that offers testing is Los Angeles AFB.

AFOQT OFFERED ONCE MORE

The Air Force Officer Qualification Test is being offered to all members who would like to test or retest prior to the Deserving Airman Commissioning Board next month. The test is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, at noon in Bldg 441, Education and Training. You must reserve a spot by calling 951-655-4441. Space is limited to 10 members.

FLU SHOT VACCINES AVAILABLE

A base-wide, mass immunization will be conducted during both October A and B UTA weekends at the 452 Maintenance Group, Bldg. 356, 2355 Graeber St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccinations will continue during November and December UTA weekends.

MARCH INN RATE INCREASE OCT. 1

The lodging rate at the March Inn will increase on Oct. 1 as follows:

Visiting Officer Quarters/Visiting Quarters (VOQ/VQs)-$56; Visiting Airman Quarters (VAQs)-$42.25; Distinguished VOQ/VQ-$58.75; Distinguished VAQ-$44.75. For questions, please call 951-655-5241.

BUNDLES FOR BABIES WORKSHOP OCT. 4

The next Bundles for Babies workshop is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4,

2 – 4 p.m., Bldg. 2314, Room 109. The workshop includes information on couples communication. All base personnel are welcomed to attend, but only active duty or those on Title 10 orders and stationed at March ARB will receive a gift from the Air Force Aid Society. Pre-registration is required by calling the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 951-655-5350. Bundles for Babies is an Air Force Aid Society sponsored course that helps expectant parents be prepared for the costs of raising a child.

AIR FORCE ACADEMY HOSTS INFORMATIVE EVENTS

The Air Force Academy is hosting two events:

An influencer workshop, designed for educators, congressional staffers and other influencers of students to attend, not intended for students. The purpose is to provide details on the application and congressional nomination process, cadet life and key insights from other service academics. The workshop will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton, 9750 Airport Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. 90045.

The second, held Sunday, Sept. 22, is a forum for those interested in attending the academy. Check in begins at noon, followed by the forum at 1p.m. with admission staff, congressional staff and recent graduates available to answer any questions and provide information about cadet life and the application process. This event is open to students, partners, student advocates and educators.
