Healthy Base Initiative takes flight

Lt. Col. Walter Scherer, 922nd Civil Engineer Flight, attempts flyboarding during a recent RecOn outing with Outdoor Recreation, Sep. 14 at Big Bear Lake, Calif. Scherer said the (RecOn) program “definitely helped me, my wife and daughter with the reintegration process following my nearly one-year-long separation while I was deployed to Afghanistan.” Although the RecOn program is to help those returning from deployments, and not part of the Healthy Base Initiative, many of the activities carry over into both programs, promoting physical and mental health.
