General Aviation Facilities project breaks ground, makes way for March Inland Port Airport

On October 16, 2013, the March Joint Powers Authority held a ground-breaking event at the joint use March Inland Port Airport to kick-off the General Aviation Facilities project. The project encompasses:

  • Demolition of a military recreation building
  • Relocation of the strategic air command tower to the March Field Air Museum
  • 150,000-square-foot aircraft parking apron to accommodate up to 17 small, general aviation and business type, jet aircraft
  • New airport vehicle service road
  • New security fencing
  • 5,000-square-foot terminal that will serve the public and house airport staff and General Aviation service provider
  • Grading for 20,000 square feet of future hangar development

This military/civilian airport is an asset to the region with great potential for job growth in the future. The General Aviation facilities construction is expected to commence by the end of 2013 with completion in the Fall of 2014.
