Following March ARB personnel in 130-character micro-messages

Senior Airman Phillip L. Barnes Jr,
Intelligence Analyst
912 ARS
Hometown: Erie, Penn.

0630

My alarm goes off, telling me to wake up. I turn it off, because I’m not ready to roll out of bed.

0641

I actually roll out of bed, and realize I have to rush, because I stayed in bed too long.

0700

I’m at the gym, knocking out my workouts like I plan on conquering a country by myself some day.

0901

Showered and ready for work, walking towards the vault. I don’t like being “on the nose” as far as time goes, so I take that extra minute to punch in my code.

0915

Checking e-mails, and the bomb gets dropped on me, I have to brief the executive council.

0930

Browsing through SIPR (Can’t say what I see, but if you have a clearance, you are allowed to attend the meeting).

1000

ISOPREP Time! (You’re supposed to check it every six months, in case you were wondering).

1106

Someone calls to check an ISOPREP after hours. I’m still logged in, so they’re lucky.

1123

Lunch time, but I don’t eat lunch unless we do a whole shop trip. Taco Tuesdays are the best!

1300

Back at work, finishing up the brief for the base commander.

1335

Done with the aesthetics, now time to practice actually briefing it.

1430

Getting my supervisor and my Lieutenant to look over everything, making sure the brief is good.

1513

Someone calls. Wrong number. Happens a lot.

1537

Someone calls. Wrong number. Happens a lot. See what I mean?

1603

Checking email again, just in case I missed something. I didn’t.

1617

Getting dressed to go to the gym to play basketball. I have a vendetta against someone who thinks they can shut me down.

1700

At the gym, playing ball like scouts are watching.

452 AMW lineage began in World War II England

(With the this year’s military ball theme, “A Legacy for the future: 452nd Bombardment Group,” and the ball only 11 weeks away, it seems appropriate to re-print an 11-part series tracing its lineage. The series was first run in the Beacon in 2007. Take this journey with us.) The 452nd Air Mobility Wing started as...

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Because tobacco use is harmful to military readiness, the Defense Department has an added responsibility to curb its use, the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs said today, noting that service members are more likely to use tobacco products than civilians. Social media guidance on political campaigns, elections

Reservists on active duty for 30 or more days may generally express their personal views on public issues or political candidates via social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter or personal blogs, much the same as they would be permitted to write a letter to the editor of a newspaper. If a social media site/post...

Go After the OC!M

“If the only reason you’re avoiding taking on a challenge is because the idea scares you, then that’s the reason to take it on.” That line comes from Steve Farber’s The Radical Leap, a great little book on leadership that follows the journey of a man who stands at the edge of his future but...
