Snapshots: What We Do

131118-F-EQ386-001

The final March Strategic Inter-theater Deployment mission, flown by the 729th Airlift Squadron for the past 7+ years, arrived home Nov. 18, 2013. Between Oct. 1, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2012, the squadron’s mission, which is primarily aeromedical evacuation through Southwest Asia, has logged more than 44,301 hours on 13,657 sorties during 3,789 missions carrying 107,820 passengers, including 1,862 distinguished visitors and 19,774 patients (11,195 of whom were on litters.) They also moved 178,081 tons (or 356,162 million pounds) of cargo on 26,901 pallets and 3,716 vehicles and pieces of rolling stock. The men and women of the 729 AS are proud of the dedication, sacrifice and effort they and their predecessors have given so selflessly to the citizens of the United States of America and the world. They truly have proven that freedom is not free. Well done!
