BEACON GOES DARK UNTIL 2014

This is the final Beacon issue of 2013. The next Beacon to be delivered will be a 2013 Year-in-Review and will arrive Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. The Beacon staff wishes you each a blessed holiday season and a safe and happy New Year!

COMMAND CHIEF KELLY TO MOVE TO TRAVIS

Chief Master Sgt. Ericka Kelly, 452nd Air Mobility Wing Command Chief, has been selected as command chief for the 349th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, Calif. She will be taking the position at Travis sometime after the first of the year. A replacement for her position at March Air Reserve Base has not been selected. Congratulations to Chief Kelly and Godspeed!

A&FRC TR POSITION AVAILABLE

The Airman & Family Readiness Center has a Traditional Reserve position available for an outstanding NCO. For more information on position requirements contact Valerie Fioretta (A&FRC Director) at 951-655-5350.

AMERICAN RED CROSS OFFERS RECONNECTION WORKSHOPS

The American Red Cross is offering free reconnection workshops for military and their family members to provide small-group, post-deployment support and skill-building. The first workshop, Communicating Clearly, is Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the ARC, 600 Parkcenter Dr., Room 232, Santa Ana, Calif. 92705. Space is limited. APPLY FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE BEFORE CLASS STARTS

Your request for Tuition Assistance MUST be submitted no later than seven days prior to the class start date or it will NOT be approved without higher authority approval on a case-by-case basis. You may apply as early as 60 days before the class start date. For more information, contact Arnaldo Ibarrientos at 951-655-2126.

WHAT’S YELLOW RIBBON?

The mission of the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) is to promote the well-being of National Guard and Reserve members and their families by connecting them with resources throughout and beyond the deployment cycle. Through YRRP, service members and those who support them have access to programs, services, and resources and referrals to minimize stress and maximize resiliency during all phases of deployment and reintegration. The next Yellow Ribbon events are scheduled for Jan. 24-26, 2014, in Indian Wells, Calif., and Feb. 21-23, 2014 at a location to be determined.
